S. Kox et al., CROSS-SECTION AND DEUTERON ANALYZING POWERS OF THE H-1(D,2P)N REACTION AT 200 AND 350 MEV, Nuclear physics. A, 556(4), 1993, pp. 621-640
The cross section and analysing powers A(y), A(xx) and A(yy) of the ch
arge-exchange reaction H-1(d over arrow pointing right, 2p)n have been
measured at E(d) = 200 and 350 MeV up to excitation energies (E(x)) o
f 8 MeV in the final pp system. The good agreement observed between th
e experimental dependence of the cross section and analysing powers up
on E(x) and the predictions of an impulse approximation calculation im
proves with increasing beam energy. The large experimental figures of
merit found for A(xx) and A(yy) demonstrate that this reaction can be
used as the basis of a new deuteron tensor polarimeter in the 200-400
MeV energy range.
