Abstract
This study investigated the effect of white liquor sulfidity on modifi ed batch pulping performance of southern pine. The sulfide concentrati on affected pulping at low sulfidities, although strong pulp resulted with an acceptable pulping rate at only 15% sulfidity. The authors als o investigated use of soluble anthraquinone for reducing white liquor sulfidities. They found that sulfidity could decrease to 10% while sti ll producing a good quality pulp by use of this catalyst.
