Co/Fe deposits were obtained on nickel substrate in a bath containing
dissolved cobalt sulphate, iron nitrate and ammonium citrate at pH 9.8
. The composition and the morphology of the coatings are related to th
e applied current density (0.02 0.8 A cm-2) experienced in the prepara
tion bath. For a loading of 10 mg cm-2, the initial coating compositio
n and morphology have less effect on both the potentiodynamic behaviou
r and the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in 40wt% KOH at 70-degrees-C
than the preanodization time (0.5 or 12 h). The Tafel slope for the O
ER is dependent on the preanodization time.
