Abstract
The electron transport algorithm PRESTA, which was developed by Bielaj ew and Rogers to improve calculations of electron transport in the low -energy region, was applied to simulations of an electromagnetic sampl ing calorimeter using a thin silicon detector. Calculated results by d efault EGS4, EGS4/ESTEPE and EGS4/PRESTA were compared with experiment al values. The ESTEPE option was used for this type of simulation in o rder to obtain correct results untill now. EGS4/PRESTA can provide alm ost the same results as those obtained by selected ESTEPE values witho ut considering the materials used at a speed several times faster than that of EGS4/ESTEPE. EGS4/PRESTA was applied to compensation studies by SICAPO collaboration in order to understand the reason for reductio ns of the visible energy of electrons using different methods.
