H. Takahashi et al., A NEW PULSE-HEIGHT ANALYSIS SYSTEM BASED ON FAST ADC DIGITIZING TECHNIQUE, IEEE transactions on nuclear science, 40(4), 1993, pp. 626-629
A fast digitizing system was used as a new pulse height analysis syste
m in nuclear spectroscopy applications. Input signals were processed b
y a computerized data processing system composed of a fast ADC (200MHz
/10bit) and a UNIX workstation. Measurements have been made with a lar
ge volume HPGe detector and Co-60 gamma-ray source. Better energy reso
lution of 1.7 keV was obtained in this system, compared to 2.0 keV in
the conventional system with shaping circuit of 6 musec time constant.
Digital analysis of the pulse waveform has been examined. The selecti
on of convex waveforms gives an improved peak-to-Compton ratio. This t
echnique has a potential possibility to analyze individual signals mor
e precisely and to be used as an advanced signal processing method.
