Bj. Harland et Pj. Nicholson, CONTINUOUS MEASUREMENT OF VOLATILE ORGANIC-CHEMICALS IN NATURAL-WATERS, Science of the total environment, 135(1-3), 1993, pp. 37-54
The use of membrane inlet mass spectrometry for the continuous monitor
ing of volatile organic chemicals at the low mug/l concentrations in n
atural waters is described. The results of four field surveys undertak
en between 1985 and 1988 are presented as examples of the type of info
rmation this novel instrumentation can generate on the distribution of
organic chemicals in natural waters. The applicability of the method
for this type of analysis is also discussed with reference to the key
parameters.
