Abstract
Enzyme activities in serum/plasma or urine are the most widely used ma rkers of organ damage as well in human or animal clinics as in experim ental toxicology. Significant interspecific differences can be observe d for enzyme distribution in various species, extracellular metabolism , preanalytical and analytical conditions. Thus, to avoid any misinter pretation, all these criteria have to be documented and/or validated b efore use.
