The exposure levels of environmental gamma radiation determined with t
hermoluminescence dosemeters TLD-200, and the direct measurements of t
he exposure rate as obtained with ionisation chambers, have been measu
red at the Laguna Verde nuclear facility area, Mexico. The average val
ue of environmental gamma exposure from 1986 to 1991 was 611 muGy.y-1.
The correlation coefficient of the measurements by the two methods wa
s 0.70. No significant variations with time were observed, geographica
l differences being a function of soils characteristics.
