Vp. Kazakov et al., THE YIELD OF EXCITED EU(3-1,2-DIOXETANE IN ITS COMPLEX WITH EU(FOD)(3)() UPON DEGRADATION OF ADAMANTYLIDENEADAMANTANE), High energy chemistry, 31(2), 1997, pp. 109-112
Photophysical properties of excited triplet adamantanone (phosphoresce
nce yield (phi(p)(0) and real lifetime tau(p)(0)) in o-xylene at 65 de
grees C were studied with the use of chemiluminescence activated by th
ermal degradation of adamantylideneadamantane-1,2-dioxetane: phi(p)(0)
= 4 x 10(-5) and tau(p)(0) = 4 x 10(-9)s. The yield of chemiexcitatio
n to Eu(3+), phi(Eu)*, was estimated in a nonequilibrium complex of a
damantanone with Eu(fod)(3) (0.015 < phi(Eu) < 0.04), which was found
to be lower than the triplet yield upon dioxetane thermolysis. The di
fference between the yields is explained by a decrease in the activati
on energy for thermal degradation of the dioxetane in the complex.
