Abstract
Some necessary conditions for the optimality of junctions between sing ular and nonsingular subarcs arising in optimal control problems are w ell established. The second part of McDanell's conjecture has been pro ved false. The first part still awaits verification or otherwise. This paper briefly summarizes previous work and presents some evidence to suggest that the first part of the conjecture is also false.
