THE VISCOSITY OF LIQUID WATER AT PRESSURES UP TO 32-MPA

The paper reports new, preliminary measurements of the viscosity of li quid water along two isotherms as a function of pressure up to 32 MPa. The measurements have been performed with a vibrating-wire viscometer especially modified for the purpose. The instrument has been calibrat ed with respect to the viscosity of water at a pressure of 0.1 MPa and a temperature of 293.15 K, for which an accurate reference value is a vailable. With due regard to the precision of the determination of ind ividual quantities and the accuracy of the calibration data, it is est imated that the accuracy of the present results is one of +/-0.3% unde r all conditions.
