Abstract
PCDD/F concentration in deposition and in ambient air was measured at different locations in the state of Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany. The av erage dioxin concentration in particulate deposition ranged from 5 to 36 pg I-TEQ/m(2)d, while the ambient air concentration ranged from 14 to 77 fg I-TEQ/m(3). In addition, particulate depositions (mg/m(2)d), calculated PCDD/F concentration in particulate depositions (ng I-TEQ/k g), suspended particles (< 10 mu m) in air (mu g/m(3)) and the calcula ted PCDD/F concentration in suspended particulate matter (ng I-TEQ/kg) are reported. Rural areas and urban areas differ in PCDD/F pollution. Connections of PCDD/F concentration vs, temperature, PCDD/F concentra tion in grass vs. deposition and PCDD/F concentration in deposition vs . rainfall have been measured. The rural area in elevated exposition ( Black Forest) reflects the influence of weather and long range transpo rt. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
