Abstract
In ad hoc radio networks, a near-far problem occurs when a transmitter transmitting unwanted signals is much closer to a reference receiver than that transmitting wanted signals. Intermodulation distortion (IMD ) from the unwanted transmitter due to the nonlinearity of its power a mplifier may be strong enough to block the wanted signals. In the Lett er, a closed form expression is derived to characterise the relationsh ip between the blocking probability and linearity requirement of the p ower amplifier. The results presented are also verified by Monte-Carlo simulation.
