Abstract
The antitumor antibiotic bleomycin acts as a transcriptional inducer o f the neo-ble-str operon of the transposon Tn5, increasing the resista nce level to streptomycin and amikacin in Tn5-containing Escherichia c oli. The mechanism may involve a recA-independent induction mediated b y DNA damage.
