Abstract
roxy(((phenoxy)(methyl)phosphoryl)oxy)iodo]benzene (1), [hydroxy(((dip henyl)phosphoryl)oxy)iodo]benzene (2) and [hydroxy(((dimethyl)phosphor yl)oxy)iodo]benzene (3), obtained from the reaction of iodosobezene wi th phenyl methylphosphonic acid, diphenyl- and dimethylphosphinic acid , respectively, effect the introduction of the corresponding phosphona te or phosphinate groups alpha- to ketone and ester carbonyl groups. P henylacetylene is transformed by reagents 1-3 into the corresponding a lpha-functionalized acetophenone derivatives. (C) 1997 Elsevier Scienc e Ltd.
