Ge. Faiers, DIURNAL DISTRIBUTION OF HOURLY RAINFALL EVENTS DURING JANUARY BY SYNOPTIC WEATHER TYPES AT LAKE-CHARLES, LOUISIANA, The Texas journal of science, 45(3), 1993, pp. 265-271
The occurrence and amounts of hourly precipitation recorded from 1951
to 1990 at the city of Lake Charles, Louisiana during the month of Jan
uary are analyzed on a diurnal basis by synoptic weather type. The eff
ects of each weather type on the temporal distribution of diurnal prec
ipitation is discussed. Frontal Overrunning (FOR) has the greatest eff
ect on the overall diurnal precipitation pattern. The merit of identif
ying the underlying processes which create distinct diurnal patterns i
s examined.
