Abstract
Alkynyl group attached on the C-1 position of pyranose ring was epimer ized through dicobalt hexacarbonyl complex with trifluoromethane sulfo nic acid. Three steps involving complexation, acidic transformation an d decomplexation afforded overall epimerization.
