Abstract
As American industry strives to become more competitive, many firms ar e focusing on quality. Total quality management (TQM) is one way to in tegrate the concepts of quality improvement throughout an organization . Firms engaged in TQM commit all employees to the continuous improvem ent of all work processes, with the goal of satisfying internal and ex ternal customers. The management in formation systems (MIS) function i s critical for many business processes. Techniques are suggested to he lp MIS departments avoid being a barrier to TQM implementation.
