A depolarization-induced rise in intracellular Ca2+ in cultured bullfr
og sympathetic ganglion cells depended non-linearly on Ca2+ influx and
membrane depolarization, spread inwardly faster than that without Ca2
+-induced Ca2+ release (CICR), and was blocked by dantrolene and ryano
dine. Ca2+ entry and a graded activation of CICR thus induce the ''Ca2
+ transient.''
