The morphometric analysis including measurement of the invasion depth
and tumour area has been performed on 75 patients with dysplasia and c
linical stage I of cervical cancer. Cytofluorimetric analysis of DNA c
ontent in the nuclei of epithelial cells was carried out in 43 specime
ns from the same patients. The control group consisted of 6 women. It
was established that in case of intraepithelial cancer, DNA content in
the cells is positively higher as compared with that in the control a
nd in case of severe dysplasia. But in the last case the indices are c
onsiderably higher than in control. In early carcinomas with the invas
ion depth of 3 mm or less DNA content tended to be higher, while in th
e cases between 3 and 5 mm, it decreased, though the data were statist
ically insignificant. The evolution changes of DNA content were in clo
se correlation with an increase of the tumour area and the invasion de
pth.
