Abstract
The British Library Document Supply Centre, the forerunner of document delivery entities, may be the world's largest source of information i n every field of scientific, technical, medical, and human knowledge. This article gives a brief historical account of lending services in B ritain and describes the development, current state, and future plans of the Document Supply Centre.
