Cp. Burger et al., FIBEROPTIC TECHNIQUES FOR GENERATING AND DETECTING ULTRASONIC-WAVES FOR QUANTITATIVE NDE, Optics and lasers in engineering, 19(1-3), 1993, pp. 121-140
This paper describes a method that uses pulsed laser light and coheren
t light interferometry in a fiber-optic-based system for non-contact g
eneration and detection of ultrasound Fiber-optic bundles are used to
construct a rugged and versatile system to deliver geometrically condi
tioned, high-energy laser pulses capable of generating ultrasonic sign
als. In addition, an actively stabilized, multi-channel fiber-optic in
terferometric system for detecting these signals is described.
