Abstract
The baker's yeast reduction of alpha-iodoacetophenone gave acetophenon e. Some evidence for a free radical chain process in this reduction wa s obtained by addition of DNB which not only provoked a decrease in th e formation of acetophenone but also allow the appearance of the enzym e-controlled formation of (-)-(R)-2-iodo-1-phenylethanol.
