Abstract
A new vapour pressure equation for methanol is presented which covers the full range from the triple point to the critical point (175-512.6 K). Multiproperty fitting was used which included liquid heat capacity data near the triple point as well as vapour pressure data from aroun d 10 kPa upwards. During the development, two forms of equation were c ompared; both were fitted to the same set of weighted data using the s ame selection algorithm to determine the number and value of the coeff icients. The final equation required only 4 coefficients to represent the best data to within the experimental accuracy.
