W. Hendrix et al., SUPERPLASTICITY OF CUO-DOPED ZRO2(Y2O3), Materials science & engineering. A, Structural materials: properties, microstructure and processing, 168(1), 1993, pp. 45-47
Low temperature superplastic behaviour (1100-degrees-C) was demonstrat
ed in creep compression tests of three different CuO-doped yttria stab
ilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystalline (YTZP) materials, synthesiz
ed using commercially available powders. The microstructures obtained
were analysed by different characterization techniques such as ceramog
raphy, impedance spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy and X-
ray diffraction. Although some observations point to the formation of
a thin liquid phase which could explain the low temperature superplast
icity of these CuO-doped YTZP materials, such a phase could not be det
ected.
