Abstract
The propagation of magnetosonic waves in an arbitrary planar current-f ree magnetic configuration is solved explicitly with the help of confo rmal transformations. The role of critical points, X- and 0-points, of the magnetic configuration is discussed. Relevant examples are presen ted. These include the propagation of magnetosonic waves in a magnetic configuration with an island structure.
