Abstract
Aluminum powders are mixed with lithium salts which are easily synthes ized into pure aluminum nitride by heating the mixed powders in nitrog en at temperatures ranging from 800-degrees to 1200-degrees-C. This re action is described, and an attempt is made develop a model to explain the reaction using thermodynamical considerations and a corrosion mec hanism.
