The specific frequencies of globular clusters, S, defined as their num
ber per unit of galaxy luminosity, normalized to M(V) = -15, are recal
culated for the spheroidal (r1/4) components of the Galaxy and M31, re
spectively 4.9 +/- 0.8 and 4.7 +/- 1.0. Both are close to the mean val
ue for normal elliptical galaxies in small groups (4.7 +/- 0.7), previ
ously calculated on the distance scale which minimizes the dispersion
among the latter (de Vaucouleurs).
