R. Volkel et al., MEASUREMENTS OF THE ANGULAR SPECTRUM OF STRAY-LIGHT FOR HOLOGRAPHIC OPTICAL-ELEMENTS IN DICHROMATED GELATIN, J. mod. opt., 40(9), 1993, pp. 1787-1794
The angular spectrum of stray-light from holographic optical elements
is measured at wavelengths of 488 nm and 1-5 mum. Holographic optical
elements, for deflecting or splitting incident light beams, are record
ed as volume transmission phase gratings in dichromated gelatin. The h
olographic optical elements are characterized with regard to their dif
fraction efficiency and stray-light. The diffraction efficiency is 80-
85% of the incident light. The stray-light is mostly found within spur
ious diffraction orders or reflected beams. A signal-to-background rat
io better than 1:10(-4) indicates than these elements are not inherent
ly noisy or hazy.
