Abstract
We report for the first time the folded approximately 200-ka-old milio lite rocks from Saurashtra and U/Th dates on the associated oyster ban ks suggesting coastal instability during the late Quaternary. The rock foldings and fracture lineaments relate intrinsically to the structur al set up of Saurashtra horst. The occurrence of oyster bank dated to 80 ka at 4 m asl equates with the stage 5a of deep sea record1 when se a level was 13 m below the present, suggesting emergence of the coasta l fringe after its formation.
