The quenching effect of anharmonicity on the inter-bond coupling and C
oriolis interaction is studied. The local to normal mode correlation d
iagrams for XY2 and XY3 stretching overtones up to nu = 60 and 20, res
pectively, are calculated in the normal mode model with Darling-Dennis
on resonances included. The results show that the high-energy stretchi
ng vibrations tend to be bond-localized owing to the anharmonic (Darli
ng-Dennison) resonances.
