Abstract
Various types of homogeneous catalysts have been investigated to deter mine their influence on the rate and selectivity of hydroxylation of p henol by hydrogen peroxide. General relationships in the course of the process have been established - relationships that are also character istic for a number of monosubstituted derivatives of phenol. The influ ence of initial parameters on the length of the induction period has b een investigated, and a mechanism is proposed for the induction period .
