Effect of the therapeutical and trine doses of the soft, propolis-cont
aining intramammary infusion (Provet(R) A.U.V., Apipharma) was studied
in 6 each healthy cows. Trends of the temperature of udder skin, as w
ell as electric conductivity, somatic cell counts and chloridion conce
ntrations were compared in 4 milk samples collected before, in 6 milk
samples collected during and in 12 milk samples collected after the tr
eatment (Table 1). It was found that Provet infusion did not modified
the temperature of udder skin. It increased the electric conductivity
of milk within the physiologic limit values even after the treatment.
Chloridion concentration of the milk increased also due to the propoli
s, however it did not exceed the physiologic limit value (Table 2). Th
e most significant increase was observed in case of the somatic cell c
ounts, the cell counts were well over the 500 000 limit value even dur
ing 6 days after the treatment (Figures 1 and 2). During the eliminati
on dynamic measurements, measurable traces of the medicament could not
be detected by thin-layer chromatography (detection limit: 30 mug/l),
suitable for the demonstration of propolis.
