Cc. Tien et al., EFFECT OF LATERAL WALLS ON THE PROPAGATION CHARACTERISTICS OF FINITE-WIDTH CONDUCTOR-BACKED COPLANAR WAVE-GUIDES, Electronics Letters, 29(15), 1993, pp. 1357-1358
The connection of the side planes of finite-width conductor-backed cop
lanar waveguide (FW-CBCPW) to the ground through lateral walls suppres
ses the undesired microstrip-like (MSL) mode and provides a wide frequ
ency range over which singlemode propagation occurs. The leakage or re
sonance phenomena of the higher-order modes can be avoided, if the dis
tance separating the lateral walls is carefully designed.
