Abstract
A planar extended Kalman filter for estimating frequency offset is pre sented. It extracts the frequency offset from the estimates of its sin e and cosine components. Simulations show that this filter acquires mo re quickly than and tracks better in the steady state than a filter th at estimates the frequency offset directly.
