Abstract
The solutions of electromagnetic field equations for non-radiative cou pled dielectric guides are derived using mode matching technique. Disp ersion curves are plotted for various dielectric materials and dimensi onal parameters. The non-radiative phenomenon in the coupled dielectri c guide has been discussed in detail. The hybrid directional couplers in the above configuration have been theoritically designed by computi ng the normalized propagation constants. The superiority of such direc tional couplers is discussed.
