Ja. Fawcett et Bh. Maranda, A HYBRID TARGET MOTION ANALYSIS MATCHED-FIELD PROCESSING LOCALIZATIONMETHOD, The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 94(3), 1993, pp. 1363-1371
A passive localization method is described that combines the localizat
ion features of target motion analysis and matched-field processing. T
his method works directly with complex-valued beam spectra as its inpu
t. The algorithm can handle weak or fading signals and, because of its
long-term integration of power from the matched-field processor, has
enhanced detection characteristics. In towed array applications, this
hybrid algorithm combines the broadside localization performance of ta
rget motion analysis with the good end-fire performance of matched-fie
ld processing to give good all-around performance.
