G. Maidanik et J. Dickey, INFLUENCE OF VARIATIONS IN LOSS FACTOR OF A PANEL AND LINE IMPEDANCESOF ATTACHED RIBS, The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 94(3), 1993, pp. 1445-1452
This is a companion paper to a preceding paper entitled: ''Quadratic a
nd energy estimates of the partial response of ribbed panels'' [J. Dic
key and G. Maidanik, J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 94, (1993)]. A ribbed panel i
s used as a complex structure in which the bays form an ensemble of co
upled dynamic systems which can be made identical. In the companion pa
per a quadratic analysis (QA) is employed to yield the quadratized lin
ear response of a ribbed panel which is then compared with the respons
es that are yielded by an energy analysis (EA) and a statistical energ
y analysis (SEA). The comparison is extended herein to include variati
ons in the loss factor of the panel and in the line impedance of the r
ibs. It is found that such variations may significantly influence the
quadratic (global) and the energy (local) responses of a ribbed panel
as well as the correspondence between these types of responses.
