Abstract
A new class of triple- and quadruple-decker complexes of iron and coba lt derived from pentalene was prepared. The triple-deckers are prepare d through the reaction of the bis(hydropentalenyl)iron monolithium sal t 2 with CpM(acac) (M = Fe, Co). Two types of iron quadruple-deckers were also prepared, the first through the reaction of 2 with Fe (acac) 2, and the second through there action of 3 with n-butyllithium follow ed by CpFe-(acac).
