Flow-vacuum pyrolyses of the title compounds 11 and 12 afford product
distributions similar to pyrolyses of corresponding isomeric acetates
or alcohols with 10,11-dihydro-5,10-ethano-5H-dibenzo[a, d]cyclohepten
e skeleton (1, 3) and 9,10-dihydro-9,10-propanoanthracene skeleton (2
and 4). A radical mechanism is suggested for pyrolyses of 11 and 12.
