A total of 312 quarter milk samples from 80 dairy cows was examined fo
r pH, California Mastitis Test score, and presence of C. perfringens.
The pathogen was present in 29 (9.3 %) of the milk samples. Less than
50 % of the samples that had an abnormal pH or California Mastitis Tes
t score yielded C. perfringens. All of the C. perfringens isolates wer
e sensitive to tetracycline, and none was sensitive to clindamycin. Fr
om 31 to 69 % of the isolates were sensitive to carbencillin, cephalot
hin, chloramphenicol, erythromycin, and piperacillin.
