The results of a multifaceted investigation of the luminescence proper
ties of single crystals of copper-aluminum diselenide CuAlSe2 are pres
ented. The luminescence spectrum of undoped single crystals of this co
mpound with homogeneous composition was found to have a complex struct
ure. The luminescence properties were modified by annealing the compou
nd in various atmospheres. The nature of the radiative transitions in
