Abstract
In 12 reference teeth of 35 feline patients with chronic oral inflamma tory disease, periodontal indices as well as bacterial strains of plaq ue with the respective pH-value of the tooth surface of the upper four th premolar have been assessed. No statistical significant correlation was observed between periodontal indices and different bacterial stra ins as well as the pH-value of the tooth surface. Therefore we presume , that no specific, acid-producing bacteria occur in cats that may pla y a role in the pathogenesis of neck lesions.
