Abstract
Relationship between the index of endogamy and a random component of i nbreeding in Russian populations was studied. It was shown that signif icant correlation (r = 0,74 +/-0,24) exists between these parameters. Correlation coefficient between the index of endogamy and the load of autosome recessive pathology makes up 0.98 + 0.11. It is suggested tha t the index of endogamy could be used as a quantitative measure of gen etic structure of the population where it is not possible to receive t he inbreeding value using the routine methods.
