Vi. Savchenko, THERMAL-DESORPTION FROM DISCRETELY HETEROGENEOUS SURFACES WITH ACCOUNT FOR DIFFUSION BETWEEN VARIOUS SURFACE REGIONS, Reaction kinetics and catalysis letters, 49(2), 1993, pp. 251-259
Calculations for a discretely heterogeneous surface consisting of patc
hes s1 and s2 with different adsorption heats of particles, A(ads) hav
e been made. The calculated data show that under equilibrium distribut
ion of particles between s1 and s2 the desorption rate over route II:
s1 A(ads) --> s2 * A(ads) --> A(gas) considerably increases compared
to the ''direct'' desorption over route I: s1 A(ads) --> A(gas). Th
is effect is ascribed to the entropy variations of adsorbed,layers on
patches s1 and s2.
