Abstract
CFIT is discussed: an application program of a genetic algorithm dedic ated to spectral curve fitting. CFIT's practical utility resides in se veral attractive properties of genetic algorithms that other technique s traditionally used for curve fitting apparently lack, inter alia rob ustness. Thus far, the results are promising. Since recently, CFIT is used at a chemical company.
