F. Adam et al., NEW DATA ON THE GENUS MYOPTERUS - THE STA TUS OF MYOPTERUS-DAUBENTONII DESMAREST 1820 (CHIROPTERA, MOLOSSIDAE), Revue Suisse de Zoologie, 100(2), 1993, pp. 317-326
Five specimens of Myopterus, caught in Senegal in 1973, allow to clari
fy the taxonomical status of Myopterus daubentonii Desmarest, 1820 (Ch
iroptera: Molossidae). A neotype is designated, housed in the Museum n
ational d'Histoire naturelle (MNHN), in Paris. Relationships between t
he so-called M. daubentonii, M. albatus and M. whitleyi are discussed;
it is suggested that M. albatus might be a mere subspecies of M. daub
entonii. New localities are given - or even resurrected - for this rar
e and poorly known genus: i.e. Gaboon and Uganda (M. whitleyi), Centra
l African republic (M. daubentonii albatus).
