The charge-transfer complex of 2,7-bis-(methylthio)-1,6-dithiapyrene (
MTDTPY) with tetracyano-2,6-naphthoquinodimethane (TNAP) showed an alt
ernated stacking mode of crystal structure. There are no short intermo
lecular contacts. The ionicity was estimated to be neutral. based on a
n analysis of the IR stretching frequency of the CN groups and the tra
nsition energy of the charge-transfer band.
