Abstract
The author gives a short description of the polymerase chain reaction technique and restriction fragment length polymorphism which revolutio nized molecular biology and have entered pharmacogenetics, too. Exampl es of the use of these techniques are given in the polymorphism of oxi dative (phase I) and conjugative (phase II) reactions.
