The Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+delta (BSCCO-2212) precursor was melted and solidifi
ed by means of various quench methods (atomisation, splatcooling). The
amorphous samples were examined by DTA/TG analysis and X-ray powder d
iffraction. The average activation energy for crystallisation obtained
from the slope of the DTA peak temperature at different heating rate
is 361 kJ/mol. X-ray diffraction analysis and thermogravimetric measur
ements showed a qualitative difference between rapidly (amorphous) and
slowly cooled (crystalline) sample.
